The Dana Biosphere Reserve in Jordan has a settlement history stretching back 6,000 years. The archaeological record begins in the Paleolithic era. Over 100 archaeological sites have been identified within the park including the ancient copper mines of Wadi Feinan, which is considered the most complex mining system in Jordan, outside of the canal system of Petra.
